You take these stitches by pushing on the needle with the end of the thimble until you can feel the point of the needle with the hand underneath (Diagram 12). Then, angle the needle the other way to make the point of the needle barely come through to the surface (Diagram 13). Repeat for another stitch. When you have several stitches on the needle, pull it all the way through and pull the thread tight. Pull just tightly enough to remove all the slack, but not so tight that the fabric bunches or wrinkles.
