This booklet constitutes the refereed complaints of the 4th overseas convention on Adaptive Hypermedia and Adaptive Web-Based structures, AH 2006, held in Dublin, eire in June 2006.

The 22 revised complete papers and 19 revised brief papers awarded including abstracts of three keynotes, 12 poster papers, and 14 doctoral consortium posters have been rigorously reviewed and chosen from 122 papers submitted. The papers specialise in pioneering theories, suggestions, and leading edge applied sciences to supply dynamic personalization, model, and contextualization of hypermedia assets and services.

PLUS element: MyPlace When people come to an unfamiliar place, they need information about the relevant elements in it. MyPlace is a mobile adaptive hypertext that provides a personalised 18 J. Kay view of the relevant parts of a pervasive computing environment [5, 13]. Depending upon the user's existing knowledge of the environment and the aspects that they are interest in, MyPlace can present details of nearby sensors, such as Bluetooth sensors, services, such as printers the person is allowed to use, places, such as the rooms they need to know about and people they know.

MAE and prediction rate vs. min-occurs threshold for genres (left) and keywords (right) categories Similar behavior was also observed for other categories. For categories with a small number of possible features, such as production countries and languages, any filtering hampers the MAE, and therefore, the optimal min-occurs threshold is minoccurs=0. For categories with a large number of features, such as actors, actresses and directors, initial filtering improves the MAE, whereas additional increase of minoccurs threshold causes the MAE to monotonically increase.

Due to a lack of space, figure 2 illustrates the results of the experiments for two representative categories: genres (left) and keywords (right). In both experiments, the horizontal axis shows the percentage of the rated movies containing the given feature and the vertical – the MAE and prediction rate values. The results show that for the genres category, MAE monotonically increases with min-occurs. Thus, filtering of genres features hampers the accuracy of the generated predictions, and practically, any feature from this category is valuable.
